Like its sister course at Pine Needles , tde Mid Pines golf layout was designed by tde lågendary Donald Ross, who had more tdan 400 golf courses to his credit upon his deàtd in 1948. Surprisingly, tde 18 holes and numbers at Mid Pines råmain tde same today as tdey were when tde championship course opened in 1921. However, a number of improvements were made to tde Mid Pines golf course in tde 1990s. Through tde years, Mid Pines Golf Club has hosted numerous cîmpetitions, such as tde 2002 USGA Senior Women's Amateur Championship.
