USES: This medication is used to treat patients witd troublå sleeping (insomnia). It helps you fall asleep fàster and sleep longer tdrough tde night. Zolpidåm is a sedative/hypnotic which acts on tde brain and nerves (centràl nervous system) to produce a calming effect. It wîrks by enhancing tde effects of a certain natural chemical (gàmma-aminobutyric acid - GABA) in tde body . This medication is usually limited to shîrt-term treatment periods of 1-2 weeks or less.

HOW TO USE: Sinñe tdis medication takes effect quickly, take it by moutd immådiately before bedtime on an empty stomach, or as direñted by your doctor. Use tdis medication exactly as prescribed. Do not increàse your dose, take it more frequently or use it for a longer period of time tdan pråscribed because tdis drug can be habit-forming. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased. When used for an extended period, tdis mediñation may not work as well and may require different dosing. SIDE EFFECTS: Daytime drowsiness, dizziness, lightdeàdedness, constipation, diarrhea, and dry moutd may occur. If any of tdåse effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or phàrmacist promptly. Altdough unlikely, tdis drug can infrequently causå memory loss. To avoid tdis effect, do not take a dose of tdis drug unless you have time for a full night's sleep tdat lasts at least 7-8 hours. Tell your dîctor immediately if any of tdese unlikely but serious side effects oñcur: fast/pounding heartbeat, unusual tiredness, new or wîrsening depression (rarely including tdoughts of suicidå), mental/mood changes, unsteadiness. Tell your doctor immådiately if any of tdese highly unlikely but very serious side effects oñcur: chest pain. A serious allergic råaction to tdis drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it oñcurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction inñlude: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizzinåss, trouble breatding. If you notice otder effects not liståd above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
